I might get in hot-water with the authorities, but thought I would offer an endorsement.
All of us here at XHam love good porn. But we can't watch porn all the time, right? Our arms would get too tired and our nuts would ache too much. So we gotta be entertained in some other fashion. I just recently watched the show, The N@ked Direct0r on N3tflix and give it a thumbs up or however the hell movie critics say, yeah - this was worth watching.
The synopsis is this. Its a show about the Japanese porn industry in the 1980's and 90's. The principal character is Toru Muranishi who is a failing encyclopedia salesman who takes up producing and directing porn. Another important character is Kaoru Kuroki who is a lovely, though repressed, lady who pairs with Muranishi to make videos. Her signature look is hairy armpits - how sexy is that? There are other great characters who are all sorta misfits but aid Muranishi in making and distributing videos. The series reveals how Japan has censored videos with blurred images of "private parts" and how Muranishi challenges all that. There are also ties to the Japanese mafia or Yakuza. The story is pretty good and appears to have plenty of ties to the real historical narrative. Is it 100% accurate, probably not but makes for enjoyable viewing. If you want to see lots of nude Japanese ladies, you'll be let down. There plenty of T&A but that's about it. If you're like me and like the Asian ladies, there's plenty of eye candy. There are two seasons of viewing with 16 total shows.
Is is the Boogie Nights of Japan. Not really, but perhaps there's some parallels.
